Here’s a hard to swallow pill.
The only way to health is the long way… by living, loving, being and eating in health, harmony and balance. And don’t forget to drink water!
And if you put in little effort, you will live forever through many lifetimes without reaching nirvana.
Anyway…
I will try to make a really long story short.
Ayurveda, with its roots in ancient India, is over 5,000 years old. Its name is a Sanskrit word translating to ‘the sacred knowledge of life and longevity’.
Guru Aama is a master magical healer mama. To her, ayurveda is all about knowing yourself, so you can know and understand all things and feelings in the universe. She says she learned about ayurveda as a kid by feeling the energy and essence of nature itself. Actually, it turns out that almost all natural healers and herbalists from different traditions say the same thing… that they learned by listening to the plants. Coincidence? I think not. Guru Aama says that she actually did go to an ayurvedic school for a certificate, but she didn’t really need it… she just wanted people to believe in it, because belief is important.
Ayurveda sees humans as miniature versions of the universe. The universe is made of five main elements: The ether, air, earth, water and fire. We all are made up of a mix of these elements, and to build health is to live and eat and drink in a way that balances our own unique universe.
Though it is and isn’t that simple. In Ayurveda, in each human universe, there are three doshas: vata (air & ether), pitta (fire & water) and kapha (water & earth). The tridosha concept has been linked to a Buddhist concept, called the three poisons, which sees the the human being’s universal spirit as influenced by the three disrupting forces: attraction, aversion, and confusion. In the human, these create the sense that ‘I’ am a human being and ‘I’ am separate from everyone and everything else. As a result of these three influences, the pure, peaceful, universal consciousness becomes a mortal human being. It is the ultimate task of a human – a task that can take many lifetimes – to let go of the ego and the separate self, enter the morphic field, and achieve undifferentiated universal consciousness (nirvana).
And we all have access to that… to everything inside of ourselves… to everything else in the universe… to all the energy and information that is and ever was and ever will be… all the time…
Just add ashwagandha.
See it’s easy… just flow through your lifetimes trying to transcend the ego and any sense of a separate self and tap into the universal consciousness… and in the meantime, in this mortal lonely life, just take care of your self, and make sure your food is well spiced!
And as the seasons shift
And winter’s cold grip takes hold
The gift of snow shows us our shadows
And our reflections
And reminds us that even in the quiet
Even though everything must end
The roots are still there riotous
And will grow fruits again
As spring brings resurrection
#Live like you have the universe inside of you
